The BPAM is a Breech plate and Magazine solution for the CAFDS Chaff and Flare Dispensing system. Each BPAM can contain up to 30 payloads of chaff or flares, a mix of them (RR-170, RR-180 or M-206), or 15 payloads of MJU-7 IR flares.

The BPAM interfaces with the SDU Smart Dispensing Unit, which provides the dispensing commands to the BPAM.

In a typical installation, the BPAM can be mounted on each side of a pylon or externally on both sides of the aircraft with an aerodynamic nose fairing. Other common installations are flush mounted installation inside the aircraft or semi-internal installation.
